We ventured to Ohio despite Sunny’s illness, our stomach flu, and being snowed in. I’m very happy to report that we made it there and back safely and soundly.
Sunny was under the weather and just not herself, which is super disappointing because she doesn’t get to see her Grandparents and cousins very often, so of course I want them to see her as the happy, sweet, outgoing, little monster she is.
Just our luck they got to spend time with sick, miserable Sunny: BOO HISS! My little girl spent buckets of time curled up on the floor in the fetal position and crying/whining for Mama.
She did manage to have a tea party with her Grandmother and play with her new Christmas toys a bit in spite of her sicky-self.
My in laws are remarkable people. They raised 3 brilliant, well adjusted kids and I for one am very thankful for their son 🙂 We tried to pick their brain, as all three of their kids who went to private colleges on 100% scholarship- I may have mentioned before that my Father In Law is brilliant, and my Mother In Law was a stay at home Mama- we’re really trying to get in on that full ride deal and wondering if there is anything we can be doing to make sure Sunny remains smart and scholarship bound!?! (Like you aren’t hoping and praying for the same fate? Who wants to pay for college?)
My in laws laughed and reminded us that when it comes to kids what will be will be. One helpful suggestion though was that less is more. They are of the thought that when it comes to baby development there should be more time spent allowing them to figure things out for themselves, and a minimal amount of time stunting their imaginations with too much stimulation and overzealous toys.

Sunny doesn’t have to be the most brilliant child on this planet, but she does have to always try her best and use the brain that God gave her. I will not be able to stomach Sunny on a reality tv show one day saying something stupid even if she’s making 100k per episode. Nope, not in this house!
All in all it was a lovely trip…I wish I could say that Sunshine is 100% better but she isn’t just yet. We’re working on it!
