Oh the story behind this snowy maternity shoot is so much fun! Candice, the mama to be in these photos, and I had an appointment set for a January outdoor session. The first time we were scheduled to meet it was pouring rain all weekend- so we both agreed to try again the following weekend. All was looking good on that February day. I pulled up to Brookdale Park and the snow just started falling. Big, fat, lush snowflakes. And not just falling- like full white out conditions.Candice pulled up in her car and quickly changed into one of my gowns. and I said to her, “you ready?” The result is one of my most favorite maternity sessions ever.
You of course can not plan for snow. It’s one of those things that if it’s snowy out and the snow is on the ground- then great. But for it to actually snow around your client and in a way that whites out every single thing around you in a matter of minutes- well that’s just pure luck! Honestly, I’m so grateful to Candice that she was willing to get out of her car. I don’t know that I would have been as accommodating at 9 months pregnant. Candice is not only beautiful but kind and sweet and warm. To be around her is to feel at peace- it’s a very specific type of energy that just makes you feel so happy for her little one on the way. Imagine having that kind of warmth surrounding you for eternity. What a wonderful life this little one will have.
These white gown shots in this snow…GIRL! I love these. Anytime I can have monochromatic colors, my whole heart is happy. I think our eyes are drawn to Candice because she stands out among all of the flat colors.
I promised Candice we’d do some final shots back at my studio on a weekend when it was’t snowing. While i was shooting I couldn’t tell if my lens was focusing due to the white out snow. I always want my clients to have the best experience they can, and I always want to fall in love with their sessions. Our in studio session played with some warmer tones. That wrap will be used for the babies newborn session too.
Happy delivery Candice and Jason. I can’t wait to cuddle your little guy soon.
