Last night Matt hosted his high schools first annual fund raiser. He has been talking about this fund raiser since before Sunny was born. I admittedly was only half way listening, most of the time. The trial of being a new mother is making sure that you are present in your spouse's life when it matters the most…I should extend that to say, making sure you're present in every moment of your spouse's life but I try very hard not to lie.

In any case, I arrived at Matt's event last night and was completely blown away. I could never have imagined the scale at which this fund raiser was held. There we stood on the roof deck of his building on the west side of Manhattan, with the sun setting, a band of architects playing, major corporations working in conjunction with students to build life sized structures, and of course all the food and wine one could drink. Perhaps the most poignant moment for me was watching Matt make his speech to the crowd realizing he is destine to lead people. Maybe, I thought, he'll go into city politics or run for city counsel. That though alone, encouraged me to drink a second glass of wine, how on Earth will I ever be the a wife to a city leader? God help us should I be asked to speak on his behave at a luncheon!
The sun started to set and the skyline sparkled. When you move to New York an amazing thing happens, you become a part of the landscape. Even now, 11 years after I moved here, I still get giddy when I'm in the middle of it all. I'm pretty sure I'm not a lone in this, I often will look around and literally think to myself I made it, we did it, we're here. I love this town, I love my politician husband and am so proud of him, his staff, and his 400 other kids!
