Sunny was never a great napper. When we brought her home from the hospital she would nurse for 10 minutes at a time, sleep all day, and stay up all night. Around 8 weeks she figured it all out, and recognized her days from her nights… and then she skipped naps completely. Like any new mother I called our pediatrician, and a family doctor, and would tell anyone who listened how she was wonderful but would not nap. I once received advice from a family friend who suggested to face Sunny toward the sun, so she would be forced to close her eye lids.
Then something happened. She suddenly started to nap on a schedule. 2 hours from 8-10am, 2 hours from 1-3pm, and one last glorious hour from 5-6pm. It was wonderful, it was brilliant, it was necessary. It is no more.
This mornings 20 minute siesta brought me this…..
Oh Sunshine, I will be strolling you toward the sun this afternoon.
