This weekend was Sunshine’s first broadway show! Her Godmother invited us to see Mary Poppins, and though I was nervous to see how Sunny would react to such a BIG SHOW in a SMALL theatre with ADULTS who paid GOOD money for a BIG show, she did AWESOME.
She loved the show! Totally “got” the plot and has not stopped talking about it since.
It’s true what people say, the best part of kids is experiencing the world through their eyes. I had a dream a million years ago to live in NYC, but how could I have known how amazing this adventure would be? Leaving home and your childhood friends is hard- but making new friends and reinventing yourself and creating the life you think is best for your kids is a gift. To see my child walking through Times Square on her way to her first Broadway Show at the age of three, for me, is a bigger dream then even I could have dreamed.
She tells me often that she’s going to live in California. It’s silly to say such a thing, except that I believe her. She likely will and that will break my heart- but seeing as how we share a heart & soul I know I’ll be wherever she is and I’ll help her get there- because that’s her dream. For now, Matt and I tell her this, if you can’t see the NYC skyline, you’re not home. I hope it sinnks in, I hope NYC is in her blood, I pray it’s part of her pulse. See this link below for a video of Gracie in Times Square.
