My Mom was in town to help celebrate the pending wedding of Chris and JC.
While she was here Sunshine was getting her molars and was…less than pleasant. So when we got a call to come into the city for my Mothers’ dress fitting something had to be done! I called Miss Aleda and asked her babysit for Sunshine while we made our way into Manhattan. I felt and still feel a little guilty having left my sick baby at home, but after a day of swimsuit shopping at Macy’s and getting to watch Chris and JC in action- it was completely worth it.
I’m not allowed to release too much info about their big day just yet- as you all know the devil’s in the details. But my brother wanted my Mother to have an original design ( they also had ALL of our bridesmaid dresses custom made, mine was feathered in India) and he succeeded in making her Queen for the day.
It was one of those rare NY moments, that I never get anymore. Living here the gigantic buildings and amazing fashion can often get lost on you. You forget to look up at the architecture, you take celebrity sightings for guaranteed, you become part of the scenery and rarely have tourist moments. But then, every so often, you get this feeling like the first time you watched Sex and The City and your heart fluttered because it was all about your city; I had a moment like that on Friday watching my brother in law and my brother pin fabric to my mom. Huge building, people everywhere, curtains drawn, all eyes on her. It was a perfect NY moment.
And before you call, write, and email me to ask- Chris and JC are doing a little something special for all of the women in their lives. Dresses, shoes, hair, makeovers, they are allowing each of us to have one perfect moment sponsored by them. I don’t know anyone with as much class as my boys ( we call them THE BOYS). They are one of a kind, a class act, the two men in my life that make me feel like I matter the most. When I visit with Sunny on the weekends they open their home to her, blasting Mariah and Janet tunes filming her while she dances. They refinished my coffee table, plant my spring garden, and will accompany me to go house hunting when the weather accommodates. Perhaps the best part about them is the fact that they never judge my parenting- partly because they don’t care to be parents, and also because they think I’m awesome at it! ( We’ve never discussed this but I just KNOW they feel that way 🙂 ) I don’t know why some people can’t accept their love, and to be honest I don’t care- It is the loss of many who can not love a few. OMG! That’s a great quote and I totally just typed that and made it up all by myself!!!!!!! OMG! I have to write that in my Maid-O-Honor speech!!!! You guys- we totally just had a moment together. Awesome.
I’ll be back later with a post with pictures from their shower. It will be a long one, full of funny stories and awesome memories.
