While spending time in South Carolina with my parents, Sunny got to experience horse racing on the beach.
There is a long and rich history of the March Tacky Horses of South Carolina, and their riders. All I know is 78 degree weather, a brand new Radio Flyer Wagon, Diet Coke, and beach chairs is now my idea of heaven.
We had a fantastic time in South Carolina. My parents are doing well and of course they are completely in love with Little Miss Sunshine.
We were sad to leave them yesterday but we’ll see Nana in about 4 weeks when she comes for a visit. We had to get home to see Da-Da
I have said it again and again, I don’t know what it would be like to live close by to my parents. I have to believe that for Sunny’s sake it would be awesome. In one week she was very attached to her Grandparents and asks for them last night before bedtime. They seem to be able to over look her tantrums, whining, and her new favorite word: NOOOOOOO!!!!! or NOOOO WAY!!! Sigh. They think she’s cute even when she is being a little monster, which frankly is becoming more and more the case. I sometimes feel like my baby is 14 months going on 5. She can walk so she can run, she can talk so she can scream. It’s part of growing up, part of being 14 months old. Growing pains for her and me, we’re working through this new phase of babyhood.
Our visit also got us really excited for summer. Remember this pic from last summer?
We’re summer people in this family. This morning I reminded Matt that we have to get the backyard ready for summer fun. My plan is to turn this place into the fun land that I dream about. A baby pool, some water features, and maybe even a sand box! I’m looking for a mat to cover the concrete- I would insert a sarcastic quote about how much I want to move to the burbs’ here, but in lue of the fact that we’ll probably be in Brooklyn until the day I die- I’ll refrain.
Instead I’ll ask for any suggestions on mats that cover the rat/dog shit/stray cat infested concrete that is my backyard. I’ll put up some before and after photos of our backyard- believe me you will want to send us a donation! I should start a move Sunny to the the Garden State fund. Moving on…
How do these strike you?
Do you see the sandbox above? It has seating for children! I mean really? I think I’ve stunned myself emotionally because I was deprived of such awesome toys. I see me and my girl in our outdoor water park/sandbox with Iced Tea, cookies, and Nana. I. CAN’T. WAIT!
